Current opportunity: Master of Counselling placements

Do you love the idea of helping couples find their way back to one another, and build a love that lasts?

Lighthouse Relationships is an evidence-based couples therapy practice in Clayfield, Brisbane, specialising in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, with an established network and referral base. We help couples with communication and conflict, adjusting to a new baby, and recovering from betrayal. We also prepare couples for marriage.

Each year we host a limited number of Master of Counselling students who are drawn to relationship counselling.

What placement looks like

  • Specialised training and onboarding in how we work with couples

  • Shadowing senior clinicians, then building your own caseload

  • Finishing as a confident early career couples therapist, with Level 1 and 2 Advanced Clinical Training in Gottman Method and Prepare/Enrich Pre-marriage Facilitation

  • Based in our Clayfield office, with remote placements considered where your university allows and the fit is right

  • Placement is unpaid, in line with university placement requirements

After placement

Placement is often the beginning of a longer relationship. Many of our placement students enjoy the challenge and reward of couples work, and the supportive culture among our practitioners, and have transitioned to becoming a practitioner with Lighthouse after placement.

About Lighthouse Relationships Psychology & Counselling

Lighthouse Relationships is a private practice that has been growing and thriving since 2021. With a niche focus on relationships, our practice is unique in that our clinicians commonly have 70–80% of their caseload as couples. We have built our brand and reputation around providing excellent evidence-based couples therapy, grounded in the Gottman Method. As a result, we have an excellent referral base, community credibility and a wonderful community of like-minded clinicians.

Location

Lighthouse Relationships is conveniently located in the heart of Clayfield, embedded in a health hub with a dentist, podiatrist, optometrist and GPs. This inner-city location makes it an easy commute via car or public transport for clinicians and clients. There is onsite parking for clients and nearby street parking for clinicians, and plenty of nearby cafes.
