Improve Communication & Reduce Conflict - Brisbane

Get on the front foot with workplace conflict. It is tempting to ignore negative behaviours rather than address them, but avoidance, or hoping things will get better by themselves can significantly worsen the negative impact on the organisation and its people.  Serious workplace conflict calls for proactive involvement, upfront communication and followed by reinforcing expectations - all of which can reduce the likelihood of a conflict escalating beyond the point of resolution.

Our consultants analyse conflict on a case by case basis, ensuring a holistic view is taken, before crafting a plan to recommend and implement the most appropriate ways forward including:

  • workplace mediation

  • multi-party facilitation

  • conflict coaching for leaders of individuals

  • tailored training initiatives.

Our Process for Facilitated Conflict Resolution

At Lighthouse Relationships, our workplace conflict resolution process is designed to help colleagues move from tension and misunderstanding towards clarity, respect, and effective collaboration. The process is structured but flexible, and always guided by the principles of confidentiality, fairness, and psychological safety.

  1. Individual Consultations
Each participant begins with a private session. This gives everyone a chance to share their perspective and goals without interruption, and to prepare emotionally for the joint conversation. It also helps ensure the process is balanced and well-informed.

  2. Agreement to Engage in Good Faith
Before meeting together, all participants agree to approach the process with openness, respect, and a shared commitment to constructive communication. The aim is not to determine who is right or wrong, but to understand one another and find a path forward.

  3. Joint Facilitation Session(s)
In one or more guided sessions, the facilitator brings the parties together to clarify key issues, explore underlying needs and concerns, and re-establish a sense of goodwill. The focus is on understanding and collaboration, rather than accusation or defence.

  4. Developing Practical Agreements
Once mutual understanding is restored, we help participants develop clear, realistic agreements for moving forward. These may include improved communication methods, role clarifications, or agreed behavioural changes that strengthen working relationships.

  5. Documentation and Follow-Up
The agreed outcomes are documented to support accountability and clarity. A follow-up session may be offered to check in on progress and make any necessary adjustments.

Our goal is to help people not just resolve immediate conflict, but also build the skills and insight to work together more effectively in the future.
